ONE BILLION RISING
One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women. People across the world came together to express their outrage and rise in defiance of the injustices women suffer. Millions of activists in over 200 countries gathered to change the paradigm, demand accountability, justice and systematic change. One such collective energy of the movement depicting the solidarity of women, of the One Billion Rising Global Campaign was documented in Uttarakhand.
Women travelled from all the districts to the state capital to collect and represent their joint voices. They created posters, banners and enacted short plays to express the injustices that they face and wish to end.
85-year old Malti Devi has travelled for over two days from a village in Tehri to Dehradun to participate with other grass-root activists in this rising to end violence against women.
Their collective energy and spirit was reflected in the day long activities and processions through the city that reflected their thoughts and created an awareness.
