The Azim Premji Foundation is currently present in all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. The Foundation has set up district institutes in these districts and have also started Teacher Learning Centres at the block level across the above districts.
A school in Thano was started initially for the children of migrant labour. It has slowly grown from a one room and ten children to 500 students. The state curriculum is followed with a variety of engaging teaching resources for an enriching learning experience.
A hilltop single teacher run school in Thano has taken the initiative to transform the lives of children in that area. Difficult terrain and distances keep neither the teacher nor the children away from their school. Donated old computers and many other creative teaching aids are used by the teacher to open up a world of possibilities to these young minds. .
